Due to one’s repeated dietary indiscretions, poor exercise patterns, lifestyle, and genetic predisposition, our digestive enzymes, metabolic co‐factors and doshas become unbalanced. This can lead to the accumulation and spread of toxins throughout the physiology resulting in disease. Panchakarma, meaning “5 actions” is a set of five cleansing, detoxifying treatments that balances excess doshas and rejuvenates the whole body.
The five actions of Panchakarma are Abhyanga (oil massages done as preparatory treatments), Inner Oiling (done through the ingestion of ghee to lubricate the body and prepare it for the following actions), Virechana (purgation), Vasti (enema treatment with herbal oils of decoctions) and Nasya (nasal passage lubrication). It is preceded by a preparatory process called Poorvakarma. At this stage the body is prepared for removing “toxins” first through Snehanam which make the body oily internally and externally, and second through Swedanam which means therapeutic sweating. Once the preparatory stage is completed, the doctor will prescribe one or more of the 5 Panchakarma cleansing procedures depending on your individual condition. The third and final stage of treatment is Samana or Paschatkarma where the patient undergoes corrective measures through medicines, moderate therapeutic treatments, the right diet and activities for the body and mind.
The effects of panchakarma can be felt for a year or longer if the proper diet and lifestyle advice is followed. This package provides a 7 day Panchakarma Chikitsa Initiation. To experience the full impact of Panchakarma and its 5 actions, this package is recommended to be booked for 21 to 28 days.
