Ayurvedic Tips for Skin and Hair

Skincare tips

  1. Honey

Applying raw honey to your face and leaving it for 10 minutes before washing it off gives you smooth and velvety skin. Honey’s antibacterial and antimicrobial properties make it ideal for acne-prone skin. It also helps to keep your skin hydrated, removes blackheads, and tightens pores.

  1. Milk baths

Milk baths are great for irritated and inflamed skin. Milk has amazing moisturizing and softening properties due to its lactic acid and fat content. It also removes dirt from your pores. Cream-based or full-fat milk masks work wonders for nourishing and soothing skin.

  1. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera helps in making your skin supple, and younger. Simply applying it on your face and neck and keeping it for 15-20 minutes before rinsing it off gives you well-toned skin.

  1. Oil Massage

Abhyanga, the traditional ayurvedic oil-massage therapy is great for deep moisturizing and radiant skin. Give yourself a massage from your face to the soles of your feet for rejuvenated glowing skin.

  1. CTM Method

The most effective skincare regimen is CTM – Cleanse, Tone, and Moisturize. Make sure to wash your face with a cleanser and then apply a toner every day during the morning and night. During the morning, follow that up with a face cream, and at night, use a night serum or night cream.

Haircare tips

  1. Proper shampooing

Hair can be of various types – oily, dry, and combination. Find the right kind of shampoo for your hair type and make sure to cleanse the roots and scalp properly. Remember to only apply shampoo to your scalp and not your hair tips as this might lead to dull and dry hair.

  1. Hair Masks

Applying hair masks every fortnight or once a week helps to keep your scalp and hair healthy whilst combatting hair loss. Some ingredients used to make the masks are – aloe vera, egg whites, henna, fenugreek, etc. 

  1. Avoid Heat Styling

Overusing blow-dryers, curling, and straightening irons, etc. strips your hair of its moisture over time, resulting in dryness, hair fall, split ends, and breakages. Leave your hair to air dry after a wash.

  1. Avoid Chemical Products
