COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT PANCHAKARMA

Panchakarma is an ancient system of detoxification and rejuvenation that has been practiced in India for centuries. It is based on the principle of balancing the five elements in the body: earth, water, fire, air, and space. Panchakarma when used correctly, can be highly effective in treating a variety of imbalances and diseases, even the ones which are difficult to manage with just diet and medicines.

If you are considering undergoing Panchakarma, be sure to consult with a qualified practitioner to ensure that it is the right course of treatment for you. Here at Mekosha Ayurveda Spasuites Retreat, we provide you with the best Ayurvedic Professionals as well as the Ayurveda Panchakarma Treatment suitable for your needs.

Additionally, make sure to go through all of our Ayurvedic Packages to find the one you need.

The Panchakarma treatment is a five-step process namely Vamana (induced vomiting), Virechana (induced bowel movement), Basti or Vasti (administration of a medical enema), Nasyam (Nasal Therapy), and Raktamokshana (detoxification).

The common misconceptions about Panchakarma

  1. Panchakarma Treatment is spiritual

Many people believe that the Panchakarma Treatment has its roots embedded in spirituality and that the origin of this method is from the ancient Vedas. However, Panchakarma has no association with religion and all the steps of the treatment procedure of Panchakarma are chosen from modern medicine.

  1. A vegan diet

Another common misconception about Panchakarma is that people believe that if they undergo this treatment, they will have to follow a strict vegan diet. This is not the case. In some cases, Ayurvedic Professionals suggest you to eat meat and milk products.

  1. Treatment with herbs

It is a common assumption that any Ayurvedic treatment, including Panchakarma, is done only through herbs. However, on the contrary, Panchakarma uses fruit juices, oils, and many other such things rather than just herbs. It is more than just a massage – it is a complete rejuvenation therapy that will cleanse your mind, body, and soul and free it of toxins.

  1. It is meant for all

The Panchakarma Treatment cannot be availed by anyone and everyone. Your Ayurvedic professional will assess you and then based on that assessment you will be categorized as “suitable” or “unsuitable”. Some of the factors to determine suitability are – age, sex, life stage such as pregnancy, strength, disease, season, etc.

  1. All five treatments are a must

This is one of the most common misconceptions regarding Panchakarma. In this case, too, the Ayurvedic Professional who assesses you will determine the course of treatment best suited for you based on your body type, present illness, and doshas.

  1. Total rest before the treatment

There is no such compulsion for rest as the common myth suggests. More often than not, there are a few changes in your everyday life here and there. You may be advised to rest per your Dosha. If Virechana and Vamana are a part of your treatment, then you may need to rest the whole day.

In case you do need to rest and stay for quite some time, do not forget to check out our Long stay Package and our Retreats and Accommodations.

Ayurveda health supplements are all made with natural ingredients. Hence, we cannot overlook the fact that it cures the disease from the roots in a holistic way. As this is natural, it eliminates the issue of side effects too. Ayurvedic Panchakarma has benefits that are unique to it and cannot be fulfilled with any other treatments. It corrects a variety of illnesses effectively and helps manage stress, enhances the immune system, improves metabolism, and keeps you energetic throughout the day.

Therefore, the need of the hour is to promote Ayurveda Panchakarma as a common man’s treatment without any prejudice.
