Risks, Side Effects, and Dosage

However, you may face symptoms of nausea, headaches, fever, or certain stomach ailments. But do remember that this usually only lasts between 1-2 weeks. After this, your body would have adjusted to wheatgrass. However, you may want to avoid this herb if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of wheat / grass allergies. It may also be unsafe if you have a history of blood disorders, or a celiac or gluten disease.

Most importantly, you must make sure to contact a supplier you know and trust. In this manner, you can confirm that the growing and cleaning process of the plants was optimal. By extension, they will be free of bacteria and mould.

Make sure to start with small doses when you first opt for wheatgrass. After that, you can gradually increase your intake to meet the dose suggested. This helps your body adjust to the herb naturally. One liquid dose of wheatgrass ranges from 1-4 ounces (2 shots). This equates to around 2-5 grams of the powdered dosage (1 teaspoon). Try drinking a glass of water (8 oz.) after drinking wheatgrass. This can help lower the burden of side effects.
